The goal is to provide clear, factual information and explain how our community is responding. Confirmed updates and documents will always be posted on this website.

About the Proposed Transmission Line

ITC Michigan has proposed a new 345 kV high-voltage transmission line between the Oneida Substation and a new Sabine Lake substation. Several potential routes are under consideration, including one that runs through the Meridian Parks area.

No final route has been selected.

Who decides the final route?

The final route will be approved by the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) after ITC submits its construction plan and the required public input and review process is completed.

Why is early action important?

The route-selection process happens in stages. The earliest stages are when routes can still be removed from consideration.

Once a route advances further, options become more limited.

Why form an association instead of acting individually?

Individual comments matter, but organized communities are more effective. Forming a neighborhood association allows residents and property owners to speak with one coordinated voice and submit consistent, well-supported input into the process.

Why is the Association hiring an attorney?

The route-selection process is legal and technical in nature. An experienced attorney helps ensure our concerns are properly documented, presented at the right time, and communicated effectively to decision-makers.

Does joining the Association guarantee the route will change?

No. There are no guarantees.
The outcome depends on decisions made by ITC and the Michigan Public Service Commission. However, organized, early action improves the likelihood that our route segment is removed from consideration.

Who can join the Association?

Membership is open to homeowners directly impacted by the proposed route, nearby property owners whose property values may be affected, and community members who support protecting the Meridian Parks area.

How are membership contributions used?

Membership contributions are pooled into a dedicated challenge fund and used to retain legal counsel, engage experts if needed, and cover expenses directly related to challenging the proposed route. Funds are governed by the Association’s bylaws.

Where should I go for confirmed information?

This website is the official source for confirmed updates, documents, and meeting information.

The Facebook group is used for discussion and questions, but finalized information will always be posted here.
